Anil Kumar Agarwal is a distinguished railway professional with nearly 37 years of exceptional experience in the development, operation, safety, and maintenance of railway infrastructure and rolling stock. Currently serving as Chief Maintenance Officer at DB RRTS, he is recognized for his deep expertise in the certification, operation, and lifecycle management of advanced rail systems, including train sets.
A visionary leader, Mr. Agarwal has played a pivotal role in policy formulation, innovation, and the successful implementation of next-generation rolling stock such as MEMU, EMU, DEMU, metro coaches, and modern freight wagons. He has extensive experience in project management, including the creation of world-class manufacturing and maintenance infrastructure.
Throughout his career, he has demonstrated exemplary leadership—guiding a multidisciplinary team of over 1,200 officers and managing operations for more than 3.5 lakh railway personnel. Under his command, the Indian Railways achieved the production of 6,000 coaches annually and ensured the daily maintenance of 70,000 passenger coaches and over 3 lakh freight wagons.
Mr. Agarwal is also a trained expert in disaster management, having led over 100 major accident rescue and relief operations. His tenure as Divisional Railway Manager, Bangalore, was marked by operational excellence, innovation, and team empowerment.
